چکیده

Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the effects COVID-19 infection on individuals with mannose binding lectin deficiency. Methods: An electronic medical records search was conducted for MBL deficiency and positive tests from March 2020-August 2022. Individualized chart analysis statistical performed. Results: Thirty-three people in WVU medicine health system carry a diagnosis were diagnosed COVID-19. mean age cohort 41 years. Seven had severe enough symptoms lead an emergency department visit. One person hospitalized. deficient 7 times odds hospitalization ( p = .1506, OR 7.06 (CI 1.117-44.52)) compared general public. There zero mortality among population. None patients reported thrombosis or blood clots. Conclusion: This retrospective cross-sectional those known suggest lower risk fatalities thrombotic events cohort. however higher ratio public, although not statistically significant.

One of the important parts of innate immunity is complement system that occurs in three different ways; the classic, the alternative and the lectin pathway. The four pattern recognition molecules that have been identified till now are Mannose binding lectin (MBL), a component of lectin pathway, and three ficolins (ficolin1,-2 and -3) which compound to the carbohydrates of the cell surface. MBL ...

A Population-based Study of Morbidity and Mortality in Mannose-binding Lectin Deficiency

Reduced levels of wild-type mannose-binding lectin (MBL) may increase susceptibility for infection, other common diseases, and death. We investigated associations between MBL deficiency and risk of infection, other common diseases, and death during 24, 24, and 8 yr of follow-up, respectively. We genotyped 9,245 individuals from the adult Danish population for three MBL deficiency alleles, B, C,...

Mannose-binding lectin deficiency and respiratory tract infection.

Mannose-binding lectin (MBL) is an innate immune system pattern recognition protein that kills a wide range of pathogenic microbes through complement activation. A substantial proportion of all human populations studied to date have MBL deficiency due to MBL2 polymorphisms, which potentially increases susceptibility to infectious disease. MBL binds numerous respiratory pathogens but the capsule...

investigation of mannose–binding lectin level and deficiency in patients with dermatophytosis

background dermatophytosis is a cutaneous fungal infection with a worldwide occurrence. in dermatophyte infections, the release of keratinocyte cytokines, in the presence of dermatophyte antigens, causes an acute phase response; subsequently, the acute-phase proteins are produced by hepatocytes. mannose–binding lectin (mbl), an acute-phase protein, also acts as a kind of pattern recognition rec...

Mannose-binding lectin and mortality in type 2 diabetes.

BACKGROUND Inflammation and complement activation initiated by mannose-binding lectin (MBL) may be implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetic vascular complications. We evaluated the relationship between serum MBL and mortality and development of albuminuria in type 2 diabetes. METHODS Levels of MBL and C-reactive protein (CRP) were measured at baseline in 326 patients with type 2 diabetes wh...
